Artist Statement
In life, you can not erase your mistakes and undo what has passed. Sure, you can retry and do things differently afterwards or fix it, hide it, or start all over somewhere else, but you can never take things away… life can not be undone. That to me is so simple, so honest, and so beautiful that to deny the way life happens would be unfairly tragic. Therefore, when I create my art I try to do the same. I never erase what I’ve done. I let my “mistakes” inform the process and be a part of the final product. The closest thing to erasing that I ever do is to go over it and retry but never actually removing it from the art. It will always be there. Everything that I have done during the process of creating a piece will always be a part of it much like everything that we ourselves have done and taken part of in our lifetimes will always be a part of us and our world.
My art, like myself will never be perfect but I can always be honest by accepting what I’ve done and letting it take its place in my life and in this dance that we call the universe. That to me is beautiful.
